CAYA; Hoverboards and Healthcare Reform

Dear Lost Souls,

This Wednesday was June 27th, 2012; the day that Marty McFly fortuitously arrived in the future. Of course, this was just one day before the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act healthcare reform, and the Individual Mandate, so Marty could not have known. If Marty had arrived on June 28th, It would have been a VERY different movie! But, alas, while we continue to wait for our Hoverboards, and our self-tying sneakers, we can sleep well knowing that our fair nation has finally catapulted itself into the 20th Century . . . albeit behind almost every other industrialized nation in the world.

Yes my Surly Socialists, Cocktail Hour is on for this Friday evening! And as we find ourselves stranded in our current timeline, without the benefit of the Flux Capacitor, we invite you to gather together under the comforting shade of low expectations and gaze forward, resolute, to toast the promise of a better future for us all. Fulfilling their solemn covenant, the Haberdashery's High Priests will be on hand to fulfill your mixological destinies. Be not afraid of their strange instruments of alchemy; steel shakers, long agitators, strange fruits and elixirs both bitter and sweet, vessels of glass and stone, filled with the whims of the fates . . . 'tis a dark science that yields light and clarity in a world often devoid of either. We will celebrate your arrival, cherish your tenure and warmly await your return.

Cocktails will be served at 7:30pm. Please feel free to stop by for a quickie en route to your final temporal destiny . . . or to linger indefinitely.

Yours,
Los Cabañero

CAYA; Apollo's Soltice Joyride!

Dear Lost Souls,

The Solstice is upon us, that magical moment when Apollo’s golden chariot makes its longest and most triumphant arc across the sacred dome of heaven, before plotting his inevitable retreat to the dark promises of another hemisphere. On this glorious day, each of us are an axis mundi completing a celestial circuit between earth and star, terra firma bound to the galactic fortunes of tireless gravity and a tempestuous sun; giver of life and destroyer of worlds. And for all of this, the gods ask only for the offering of a toast to acknowledge our appreciation for the bounty that comes forth from nature's timeless heartbeat.

Yes, my Solar Powered Solstice Soldiers, Cocktail Hour is on for this Friday evening. Come hoist a glass for the official beginning of Summer’s reign. On this occasion, in reverence to the Haberdashery’s position in the international CAYA Consortium (CAYAC), we will have the pleasure of hosting dignitaries visiting from Greece, Alaska, Chicago, and New York.

As always, cocktails will be served at 7:30pm. Please feel free to stop for a quickie en route to your primary Friday evening venue, or to linger indefinitely . . .

Yours,
Los Cabañero

CAYA; Saturday Afternoon Barbecue! . . . Friday Evening Warm Up! . . . Gemini Style!

Dear Lost Souls,
We find ourselves in the heart of Gemini season! . . . that annual period when all of the Misfortunates from the other zodiac signs are invited to reflect upon the glory of the Geminis . . . their creativity, quick thinking, intelligence, versatility . . . their ability to effectively interpret, perceive, and communicate complex ideas . . . their gregarious nature . . . and above all . . . their astounding humility in the context of the lesser signs.
Well!, what better way to celebrate the glory of our celestial fortunes and pagan heritage than to gather around the sacred hearth, grilling hunks and chunks of meat . . . and unsuspecting vegetables . . . breaking bread as sisters and brothers under the timeless pantheon of cosmic deities as they chase each other endlessly across the horizons. The Haberdashery offers you an exclusive front row seat for the spectacle!; gods, goddesses, beasts, and mortals, all joined to share a moment of reprieve from the toils of our weekly burdens.
Yes, my Heroic Haberdites, Cocktail Hour is on for this Friday evening. And, in deference to the duality of the Gemini soul, we will be extending our usual festivities to incorporate a second day of feasting and oh-so-moderate debauchery. Let loose the fires of Hades! . . . and join us in this glorious ritual of food, fellowship and good cheer!
On Saturday, Le Barbecue will be fired up from 2pm, on into the dark hours. Please feel free to stop by anytime during the lazy afternoon or evening. We will have some general grill items, but you are invited to contribute something to the feast.  On Friday Evening, cocktails will be served at around 7:30pm. As always, please feel free to stop by for a quickie en route to your primary venue . . . or to linger indefinitely.
Yours,
Los Cabañero

CAYA; Venus and the Eternal Dance

Dear Lost Souls,

Precocious though she may be in her temptation of Apollo, Venus this past week cast her passing gaze upon our little blue marble  . . . an oh-so humble black dot passing before an immense fiery orb . . . perhaps gone mostly unnoticed . . . but nevertheless confirmation that we are indeed unwitting chorus players in an infinitely complex, rhythmic and precise celestial orchestration of light and bodies in dance. But, perhaps more impressive than these vast distances, unfathomable masses, and cosmic forces, is that we can simultaneously conceptualize these wonders within the limits of our corporal consciousness . . . planets and stars hurtling through infinite space, transmuted into pure thought, projected as manifestations of reality through the interaction of sanguine flesh and firing synapses . . . in our very own, infinitely complex, rhythmic and precise celestial orchestration of light and bodies in dance.

Yes my Cosmonaut Companions, Cocktail Hour is on for this Friday evening! And though infinitely smaller in their frequencies and orbits than their celestial cousins, our crystalline vessels laden with the alchemical culmination of our collective conscience await the steady guidance of the Haberdashery's pantheon of pilots . . . to navigate their bounty towards their terrestrial destinies. So! . . . let Venus and Apollo now stand in awe beneath OUR passing shadow, captivated by the harmonies that flow forth from our unremitting fountain of fellowship . . . nestled in the collective shade of low expectations that grace our temple mount.

Cocktails will be served at 7:30pm. Please feel free to stop by for a quickie en route to your final cosmic destiny . . . or to linger indefinitely.
Yours,
Los Cabañero
