CAYA; Auld Lang Syne . . . & One Last Gumbo!

Dear Lost Souls,

For Auld Lang Syne, 2013 we now put to bed

counting our blessing, for how we are loved and well fed,

safe in our homes, while still connected to kin

with an embarrassment of riches, the new year to begin

But before it's all over, for one final farewell

we gather together, our stories to tell,
to hoist a last toast, and most important of all,

a Gumbo to share, in the Haberdashery Hall!

Oh yes, my Old Acquaintances Ne'er Forgot! . . . Cocktail Hour is on for this Friday evening. And in an extended celebration of the Christmas feast, we will be bridging the holidays with a cauldron of Duck & Andouille Gumbo. Bring you appetite, and come share in an abundance of accumulated good cheer . . . a toast to you and your fellow cosmonauts, as we celebrate another solar circumnavigation aboard this beautiful little blue marble . . . and the ride ain't over yet!

The Gumbo will be served at 6:30pm . . . an early start to extend the Holiday spirit. Please feel free to stop by for a quickie en route to your primary holiday ho ho hoedown . . . or to linger indefinitely!

CAYA Christmas Day (12/25) Open House and Supper

Dear Haberdites!

Among our merry band of Mischief Makers, no one is ever truly a Lost Soul! And on Christmas Day most of all (not counting Mardi Gras, of course), we welcome the chance to hoist a glass together in celebration of the season. A last minute travel cancellation has opened the possibility of hosting the cherished all-afternoon Haberdashery Christmas Open House and a small evening feast in the Haberdashery's sacred hall.

A few friends will gather for dinner at around 5pm. If you do not have plans, or find yourself somewhat orphaned, you are very welcome to come join us! . . . please let me know and we will make a special place for you at the table! Otherwise, we invite Haberdites of all ages and beliefs to wander by during the day for a long or short visit to exchange some Christmas cheer, share a Nog, and then be on your way . . . just like Old Saint Nick!

December 25th
Open House: 12pm - 8pm
Dinner: 5pm (Please RSVP via email or text by midnight on Christmas Eve so I can get the numbers close)

CAYA; Cocquetiers and Alaska Martini Season !

Dear Lost Souls,

We have no doubt that Santa's list, well researched and twice checked as it is, will be compiled from peer reviewed data that definitively establishes whether you have been naughty OR nice. And while the interpretation of said data might ultimately have grave impacts on the character of your stocking contents on Christmas morning . . . we at the Haberdashery want to assure you that it will not in the least impact the contents of your Friday evening cocquetier.  We are not ones to judge! 

Oh yes, my Haughty Haberdites, Cocktail Hour is on for this Friday evening . . . and in a tradition that is as old as the Haberdashery itself, this week we toast the culmination of another jolly season with Alaska Martinis . . . a cocktail that is as colorful as Christmas itself, and as refreshing as a ride in a one horse open sleigh . . . a perfectly balanced alchemical masterpiece as sure as Rudolph's nose to lead your sweetheart beneath the mistletoe  . . . the rest is up to you!

CAYA; Holiday Hoe Hoe Hoe

Dear Lost Souls,

The Holidays are upon us! . . . Oh and in this season of danger and mirth, what paths of fear and trepidation we hoe? With this year's Black Friday body count, the crap shoot of holiday travel, the existential pitfalls of a meaningful New Year's resolution, and the prospect of staring down the barrel of your Uncle Leo's enlightened political rhetoric, what is a wayward elf left to do but take solace in the offerings of a reliable and potent round of XXXmas cocktails . . . just to take the edge off . . . and so sleep, my pagan prince of princes.

Yes, my Rambunctious Reindeer! . . . Cocktail Hour is on for this Friday evening, and though the Bay Area has been in the midst of an extraordinary seasonal chill, the Haberdashery's hallowed halls have retained their toasty and inviting character . . . your nipples are safe with us!

CAYA; Damn the Torpedoes . . . Happy Holidays! (early/late start)

Dear Lost Souls,

The Boyz are back in town! . . . and in our absence our blushing neighborhood has birthed a new and refreshing venue: The Torpedo Room; a Sierra Nevada Brewery small batch tasting room . . . oooh, the extensive research we will do! To celebrate this promising addition to the local landscape, and to also dutifully and selflessly support our distinguished neighbors, this week we will begin CAYA with a 7pm to 8pm christening visit to the Torpedo Room (just around the corner at 2031 4th Street), and then march in merry procession (at 8pm when the Torpedo Room closes) . . . with a selection of gallon growlers in hand! . . . to the Haberdashery's sacred halls  . . . where in our absence, Haberdashery elves will have dutifully prepared our temple sanctuary with the traditional vestments and accoutrements. We invite you to meet us at your convenience at either location . . . as the holiday spirit moves you!

Yes, my Bellicose Brewmeisters! . . . Cocktail Hour is on for this Friday evening, and what better way to celebrate the end of Hanukkah and the beginning of the Advent Season than with the toast of a frosty small-batch local brew! . . . a non-secular joy on which we can all agree!! It's the Haberdashery's way of spreading peace on earth!
