But worry not!!! . . . your humble hosts are well cared for . . . exploring the frontiers of our ephemeral crossing to enlightenment. On the occasion of the bottling of the Haberdashery Brew Company's latest offering, our Ocean View Porter, we are reminded of WeBe's proud history as Ocean View, California . . .

Before the I880 freeway, before the Berkeley Marina (landfill), and before the bay bridges were built . . . the community of Ocean View, with its quaint harbor at the foot of Delaware Street (currently Spenger's) and sprawling pier was nestled up against the mighty Bay of San Francisco, with a sunset view out through the picturesque Golden Gate (pre-bridge!) . . . simpler times in an outpost town on the outer rim of a country still establishing a national identity and finding its place in the world. The Haberdashery’s hallowed gathering hall was bay-front property (now the shore of Aquatic Park), with sand dunes and salt flats out beyond the back porch. Come take a look yourself! Oh, the images you’ll find in a glass of our fine WeBe brew!

Yes, my Merry Mariners, Cocktail Hour is on for this Friday evening. And so we toast a bit of history, a bit of nostalgia for the innocence of an adolescent nation, and a bit of hope for the adventures that yet await on our individual and collective voyages out beyond the Golden Gate . . . and into the great unknown.

Dear Lost Souls,

A deep thorough and scientific survey of Haberdites has indicated that August has started out as . . . and promises to continue to be . . . a whirlwind of non-stop activity . . . a mounting wave of energy building up to the crescendo of an explosion of fire and creativity in the Nevada Desert! 'Tis the repository of all those activities that we couldn't get scheduled earlier in the summer but want to accomplish before autumn comes. Difficult as it is, we endeavor to pace ourselves . . . stealing moments of sanity along the way to quench our need for a centered peace . . . searching for an oasis along the journey. And so, August is a microcosm of our personal celestial journeys across this vast universe of time, space, and possibility . . . reinventing the rules as we go . . . but occasionally showing deference to the Oxford comma.

Yes my Bonnie Spheremates!! Cocktail Hour is on for this Friday evening! CAYA; Experimental Democracy; Year 237 - Independence Day Fish FrAYA

Dear Lost Souls,

In a spirit of independence and with pride in our nation's ongoing experiment in democracy, we welcome the chance to celebrate her on-going birth . . .  sharing her bounty, breaking bread, and hoisting some all-American cocktails in honor of our fragile but enduring union . . . flawed though she may be in her conflict-scarred beauty. Just as the hard fought battles that eventually delivered our nation's freedom raged on for another 7 years after our founding fathers so brazenly declared our embryonic independence (on July 2nd, 1776), we continue our dynamic struggle to strike an equitable balance between the sacred powers that we dare entrust with our elected officials (e.g. protection of the 4th Amendment), and the defense of those hard-won liberties against the wanton corruption that these same powers seem to inevitably breed when left unchecked . . . their defense the very spark that once ignited the birth of this great nation.

Yes my Yankee Doodle Dandies, Cocktail Hour is on for this Friday evening. As a special celebration of our nation's birthday, we will be frying up a fresh and bountiful ocean harvest; courtesy of some of the Haberdashery's own heroes of the high seas.
