As our ongoing 'Great Experiment in Democracy' continues to careen off the proverbial rails, dark clouds of doom cast an ever deeper shadow over an expanding and thriving American Idiocracy. But, in this 'holidaze' season we are invited to cling blissfully to the pacifying illusion of our collective good fortune ... a fortune characterized by a relative state of material abundance and the glorious delusion of a national 'exceptionalism' . . . upon which we have tenuously constructed our American brand of cognitive dissidence. Oh to Joy! 🎄🎉🎅🎈🎊🎠

Abandoning the absurdity of this premise ... we alternatively invite you to join your fellow Haberdites this Friday evening as we deeply embrace a resolute spirit of escapism and denial which, though criminally unsustainable, should get us through the fucking weekend . . . if we're lucky. One day at a time Baby!

To help keep your feet moving, DJ Mr. Fabulous will be in the house, and we are looking forward to a cathartic Haberdashery jam session ... so musicians, bring your instruments and implements of destruction!

In what appears to be a never ending roller coaster of intrigue and scandal ... our fragile experiment in American-Style democracy has been going through more than its share of evolutionary awkwardness and confusion ... perhaps it's our 21st century adolescence. To ease the situation, the Haberdashery invites you to enjoy an evening of relaxation and repose from the insanity, as we huddle together in the tranquility and comfort of the Haberdashery's dappled shade and shadow ... sipping adult beverages and reminiscing about simpler times.

CAYA; The Gelfand Piano Experiment

Calling all piano players! . . . shout out to Greg McCrea, John Graham, and Josh Gelfand! . . . thanks to the generosity of Josh, we now have an in-house Haberdashery Piano on indefinite loan! That means that you piano players no longer need load up your ivory lady, drive her all the way over here, and lug her up the temple stairs to our sacred sanctuary . . . just to jump in the fray. We now have a piano waiting here for your loving attention! Oh the stories she'll tell! . . . how she longs to sing!

Yes, my Melodic Merrymakers! . . . Cocktail Hour is on for this Friday evening. Now all we need is for some Wizard of the Ivory Coast to step up and be the inaugural superstar in the Gelfand Piano Experiment. Who  will it be!!??? CAYA; Experimental Democracy; Year 237 - Independence Day Fish FrAYA

Dear Lost Souls,

In a spirit of independence and with pride in our nation's ongoing experiment in democracy, we welcome the chance to celebrate her on-going birth . . .  sharing her bounty, breaking bread, and hoisting some all-American cocktails in honor of our fragile but enduring union . . . flawed though she may be in her conflict-scarred beauty. Just as the hard fought battles that eventually delivered our nation's freedom raged on for another 7 years after our founding fathers so brazenly declared our embryonic independence (on July 2nd, 1776), we continue our dynamic struggle to strike an equitable balance between the sacred powers that we dare entrust with our elected officials (e.g. protection of the 4th Amendment), and the defense of those hard-won liberties against the wanton corruption that these same powers seem to inevitably breed when left unchecked . . . their defense the very spark that once ignited the birth of this great nation.

Yes my Yankee Doodle Dandies, Cocktail Hour is on for this Friday evening. As a special celebration of our nation's birthday, we will be frying up a fresh and bountiful ocean harvest; courtesy of some of the Haberdashery's own heroes of the high seas. Please bring your appetite and something to share.
