Dear Lost Souls, Our friends from inside the Beltway have taken another bite out of what was once a reasonably-well functioning two party democratic experiment ... with all of its associated flaws and inefficiencies. What's next? What constitutes 'off limits' or disqualifying malfeasance for a future president. It's hard to know at this point . . . but we are sure to find out soon enough what it looks like to explore the fertile valleys of institutionalized corruption, voter suppression, and unchecked malevolence to discover what tainted fruit their harvest bares. If we give two shits about the values of a functioning representative democracy, we better be paying close attention this election season. Because so far, nobody from the leadership of either of the two major parties has demonstrated an inclination or basic ability to foster a political ecosystem characterized by transparency, integrity, and a dedication to the interests and service of their constituency. Cocktail anyone? Yes, my Denizens of Distopia , Cocktail Hour is on for this evening. Cocktails will be served starting at 7:30pm. Jayzus, Meri, and Jozef! Three days into the new decade and we are already staring down the barrel of an artificially escalated conflict in the Middle East . . . likely as a tail wagging the dog distraction from our own homegrown constitutional crisis. Tonight's CAYA discussion topic:
